My assignment was to estimate the highest and best use of the complex and the individual buildings, rental values of the individual structures, and the sale value of the entire complex. The Olana Viewshed
Olana, the 1870-1889 Moorish Italianate villa of Hudson River School painter, Frederic E. Church is considered the most important artist’s residence in the United States. Many of Church’s famous landscape paintings were inspired by the views from his 250-acre estate. My assignment was to estimate the value of a conservation easement placed on land between Olana and the Hudson River, the viewshed that inspired many of his best-loved paintings.
